Talented bowler Zaheer Khan had been having a very public battle keeping his weight down after an injury. He arrived at the crease one day at Trent Bridge in 2007 to find that the English fielder’s had decided to treat him.
Some one had put a jelly bean on the pitch.
He promptly removed it, only to find that more appeared after each ball was delivered.
Khan didn’t find it as funny as the English players and, not knowing just who was the jellybean culprit, raised his bat threateningly towards Kevin Pietersen.
Paul Collingwood later said of the incident “He wasn’t to pleased. I think he prefers the blue ones to the pink ones”.
Whichever he preferred, he went out the next day and took his revenge on the English, by taking 5 wickets that day.
